Companion Homelifts: Company Overview
Companion Homelifts is a Leeds-based home lift supplier and the sister brand of Companion Stairlifts, operating from Gordon Mills on Netherfield Road in Guiseley, West Yorkshire. It supplies and installs a curated range of through-floor home lifts – its own UK-manufactured Cygnus, Aurora and Stratus models alongside the Savaria-built Luma – and also fits inclined and vertical platform lifts. Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Coverage is UK-wide with the exception of Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands and Islands. The company is a BHTA member and holds a Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award.

Companion Home Lift Range (2026)
Through-floor home lifts – from £16,500
Through-floor lifts are Companion’s core product. All four models are self-supporting, so they need minimal building work and no separate shaft or pit. Installation typically takes one to two days, and the ceiling aperture is sealed, safe to walk over and reinstated with your own flooring when the lift is parked downstairs.
Savaria Luma
Companion’s most discreet through-floor lift, built by Savaria and compliant with European Standard EN 81-41. It is battery powered and charges from a standard household socket when not in use, so it keeps working in a power cut – up to five trips up and down during an outage. The self-supporting dual-rail structure means preparation is usually just a square floor cut-out and floor bracing, and the whole job can be done in one or two days.

Cygnus
Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Cygnus is the most compact lift in the range and can be sited almost anywhere in the home. Its self-supporting design means it can be installed and in use within a few days, and it carries two people.

Inclined platform lifts – from £9,000
Where a through-floor lift is not practical, Companion also fits inclined platform lifts that run along the staircase itself and carry a wheelchair user and their chair. Two models cover the range, both from the Savaria group’s Garaventa Lift line:
- X3 – the straight-stair model, from around £9,000
- Artira – the curved-stair model, from around £11,500
Both fold flat against the wall when not in use. In practice these are more commonly specified for schools, public buildings and communal entrances than for individual homes, but Companion does supply them domestically.
Vertical platform lifts – from £12,000
Vertical platform lifts travel straight up and down over a short rise, typically to get a wheelchair user over steps at an entrance or between split levels. Companion supplies several models, including the Opal and the Multilift, from around £12,000. Companion confirmed in July 2026 that it does not currently hold product video for the platform lift range.
Companion Home Lift Prices in 2026
Companion quotes every installation individually after a free home assessment, because the final figure depends on the model, the finish and how much building work is involved. The starting prices below were supplied directly by Companion in July 2026.

Many buyers qualify for VAT relief on medical grounds, which removes 20% from the bill for a disabled person buying a lift for their own home. Lead times run from order to installation, and the installation itself is usually one to two days.
What Companion Fits as Standard
Across the through-floor range, Companion lists the following as standard rather than chargeable extras:
- Battery back-up that returns the lift to the ground floor in a power cut, with a manual release to exit
- Soft start/stop traction drive – quieter, cheaper to run and self-contained compared with hydraulic systems
- Two hard-wired smoke alarms and a smoke/fire protection system on both levels
- All-round safety sensors and edges, and a low entry threshold
- Space-saving drive mechanism with no obtrusive side posts
- British Standard compliant, with a diagnostic display
- A choice of colour inside and out
Companion’s own buyer checklist also tells shoppers to insist on emergency lowering, powered doors, a 16mm low entry threshold and a weight capacity of up to 255kg – a reasonable benchmark to hold any supplier to, including Companion.
Warranty, Servicing and Support
- Warranty: 12 months on parts and labour, including one service. The Savaria Luma carries a one-year parts warranty with a free service.
- Servicing: Companion recommends one service a year, with service contracts available after the first year.
- Breakdown support: a support line staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Removal: if the lift is no longer needed, Companion will remove it and return the property to its original state.
No redecoration should be needed after installation.

Our Verdict on Companion Home Lifts
Companion is a strong choice if you want a supplier that will genuinely assess which type of lift suits your home rather than selling you the only product it makes. The through-floor range is the main event, and the Savaria Luma in particular is one of the most discreet cabin lifts available in the UK. Being willing to state a starting price of £16,500 and an 8–10 week lead time up front counts for a lot in a market where most suppliers hide behind “request a quote”.
The trade-off is cost and timing. If budget is the priority, Stiltz and Terry Lifts start lower; if you want to deal directly with a large manufacturer, Stannah is worth comparing. But for wheelchair users especially, the combination of the enclosed Aurora and the open-car Stratus covers ground that narrower ranges do not.
